Export or delete local AI conversations in The Whispering Diary
The Whispering Diary can export conversations through Android’s document picker to a destination you choose. Settings provides individual deletion and an erase function. Removing the downloaded AI model preserves conversations, and deleting diary data does not manage copies you already exported elsewhere.
Decide whether you want a copy, a deletion, or more space
An export creates a separate copy of conversation content. Deletion removes records controlled by the app. Removing a model affects the files used to generate replies. These actions solve different problems, so start with the outcome you want before selecting a control.
The Whispering Diary is a fictional character-conversation app for adults. Its ordinary chats with Elias run locally after model setup, and conversations, drafts, preferences, user-approved memories, and local flags stay in app-private storage. No developer chat server receives those records.
Export a conversation with a clear destination
- Choose the conversation you want to keep and use the app’s conversation export feature. This guide does not assume a particular menu label or file format across versions.
- When Android opens its document picker, inspect the destination you are choosing. A device folder and a connected cloud-storage provider can have different backup and sharing behavior.
- Complete the save, then check the chosen destination for the exported file before relying on it as your copy.
- If you plan to delete the original conversation, confirm that the exported copy contains the material you intended to keep. Do not assume an export can later be imported into the app.
Export is a user-directed action. The destination you select may have its own retention, synchronization, or access settings. Running AI locally does not guarantee that a file you save to a cloud location will remain only on your phone.
Delete the intended information, not just the model
Settings offers individual deletion and an erase function. Read the control and its confirmation in your installed version to understand the intended scope. Conversations and user-approved memories are both kinds of stored information; do not assume that removing a single message necessarily removes every related memory.
Removing the downloaded model preserves conversations. If your goal is to erase diary records, model removal alone does not accomplish it. Conversely, do not use an erase function merely because you want to make room by removing the model.
Uninstalling removes local app data. The app’s private records are excluded from Android automatic cloud backup, so uninstalling is not a reliable way to move your conversations to a new installation. The current policy documents exports but does not promise an import or account-based recovery feature.
Remember exported copies and response flags
An export is separate from the app’s private records. If you later decide to remove that copy, manage it at the destination you selected, including any separate backup or trash controls offered there. Erasing diary data should not be treated as confirmation that an exported file elsewhere has disappeared.
Flagging a response hides it and stores your reason and optional note locally. Nothing is sent to Wonderworld Labs. Flags remain until you remove them, erase diary data, or uninstall. A flag is not a support ticket and does not alert a reviewer outside your phone.
For help, describe the operation and the difficulty through the support link on the app page. You do not need to include the private contents of a conversation to ask where an export went or how a deletion control works.
Questions and answers
Does removing the AI model erase my diary?
No. Removing the model preserves conversations. Use the documented deletion or erase controls for diary data.
Can I export to cloud storage?
The Android document picker presents available destinations. If you choose a cloud provider, its storage and backup practices apply to that exported copy.
Will a response flag send my conversation to support?
No. Response flags and their notes are stored locally and are not sent to Wonderworld Labs.
Can I restore an export into the app?
The current policy documents conversation export, but does not promise import or restore support. Treat an export as a separate readable copy unless your installed version explicitly offers more.
